In today's interconnected world, having a pen pal from another country is an exciting and enriching experience. My pen pal, whose name is Emily, lives in Canada. We started corresponding last year after joining an international friendship program aimed at promoting cultural exchange.
Emily and I write letters to each other about our daily lives, hobbies, and school experiences. Through these letters, I have learned so much about Canadian culture, such as their love for winter sports like ice hockey and skiing. She also introduced me to her favorite foods, like maple syrup and poutine, which sound delicious but quite different from what I usually eat.
Writing in English with Emily has greatly improved my language skills. Initially, I found it challenging to express myself clearly in a second language, but over time, my confidence grew. Now, I enjoy sharing stories about my life in China, including the beautiful landscapes, traditional festivals, and delicious cuisine. Emily is always eager to learn more about my culture, and she often asks questions that make me think deeply about my own traditions.
Our friendship transcends geographical boundaries and has taught me the importance of understanding and appreciating diversity. It’s amazing how words on paper can create such meaningful connections. I look forward to continuing this wonderful correspondence with Emily and perhaps one day meeting her in person!
This experience has been not only educational but also incredibly fun. Writing to my pen pal in English has opened up a whole new world of communication and friendship for me.
